Firesides Leadership training 2025
Since 1935, Firesides Leadership Training has provided an opportunity for Chi Omega leaders to come together to discuss important topics, receive leadership training and development, and form bonds with Sisters from across the country.
Firesides began as a way for Chi Omega leaders to connect during the summers between Conventions. Often, the setting for these early meetings was, indeed, around a campfire! Today, Chi Omega uses Firesides Leadership Training or Virtual Firesides Leadership Training to facilitate in-person and virtual training and conversation with leaders. This year, Chapter Presidents, Personnel Chairs, and Personnel Advisors gathered in person in Atlanta, Denver, or Philadelphia.
This year’s Firesides Leadership Training theme, Light the Way: Leading With Positivity and Optimism, empowered leaders to spark growth through meaningful conversations, resource navigation, and connection with peers nationwide.
The first day of Firesides Leadership Training began with the Welcome Dinner & State of the Fraternity Address, given by S.H. Anna Buckner in Denver and Philadelphia and by S.M. Elaine Baker in Atlanta. They helped attendees understand that the Fraternity is strong but needs empathetic leaders to continue to build and strengthen each chapter.
After specific leader programming for Chapter Presidents, Personnel Chairs, and Personnel Advisors, the evening ended with the National Leadership Consultant Meet & Greet and Alumnae Reception. These sessions allowed delegates to network and connect with fellow collegiate leaders and alumnae, respectively.
Day 2 of Firesides Leadership Training featured leadership development sessions for chapter and alumnae leaders. During the Firesides Leadership Training luncheon, Sisters heard from the Kim Siebers Cornetet Keynote Speaker at Firesides Leadership Training, Morgan Holen, Kappa | Nebraska, in Denver and during our Virtual Training program and from Victoria Maloch, Psi | Arkansas, in Atlanta and Philadelphia.
The Sisters in the Spotlight dinner featured Chi Omega National Archivist Lyn Harris, who shared the history of the National Leadership Consultant program, including amusing anecdotes and insight into how the role has strengthened the Fraternity’s growth and retention.
Sunday’s main event was the Firesides Leadership Training Regional Model Initiation Ceremony. Each year, chapters nominate an outstanding new member to be recognized as a Firesides Leadership Training Regional Model Initiate.
These new members are the epitome of what it means to be a Chi Omega. They exemplify Chi Omega’s six purposes, hold themselves to a high standard, and are deeply loved by their friends.
Firesides Leadership Training Regional Model Initiates are initiated by National Leadership Consultants and welcomed into the Sisterhood by the Supreme Governing Council.
