Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging

Exciting Update to the DIB Committee

The Chi Omega Symphony charges our Sisters “to choose thoughtfully that course which occasion and conscience demand.” In that spirit, and to deepen the bonds of our Sisterhood, Chi Omega is committed to continued work in relation to Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging among our collegiate and alumnae members. As an organization of purposeful women, it’s imperative to challenge ourselves and each other by listening to and learning from those whose experiences differ from our own to ensure an ever-evolving and more inclusive Chi Omega.

Chi Omega provides a variety of resources and support for our collegiate and alumnae members, including:

  • DIB curriculum and educational tools for the required DIB Chair leader along with a library of DIB-focused facilitated workshops to be delivered in the format of an open Sisterhood Chat dialogue with the chapter.

  • Dollars awarded every semester to Chi Omega collegiate members experiencing financial hardship through the Helping Hands Fund for Chi Omega Undergraduate Support. This fund, endowed through a gift from the Fraternity, is designed to assist with financial obligations that may present barriers to membership or hardships in maintaining membership.

  • Best practices for local emergency dues funds for collegiate chapters to assist members who may be financial need.

  • A dedicated track of education for the DIB Chairs as part Chi Omega’s annual Firesides Leadership Training.

  • Access to a professional DIB consultant and subject matter expert for educational opportunities and discussions with chapter members and leaders.

  • Chi O Conversations, a podcast highlighting both members and nonmembers from all walks of life with a story to tell. They can be viewed here.

  • Collegiate participation in The Eleusis Editorial Board meetings, ensuring the magazine remains relevant to all generations and provides a broader scope of Sisterhood.

  • The PNM Interest Form designed to allow potential new member who may not have access to any Chi Omegas in their personal network to directly express interest in joining and be introduced to a Chi Omega through a link on the Chi Omega website.

  • The Collegiate Letter of Introduction, where collegiate members now in addition to alumnae members are able to introduce women going through recruitment to other Chi Omega chapters through an online portal.

Chi Omega has a Special Committee on DIB, made up of volunteers and subject-matter experts who work with the Governing Council and our Executive Headquarters staff to share the needs of our members as we continue to keep Chi Omega ever-evolving and more inclusive.
