Sisters Lend a Helping Hand
The Helping Hands Fund, a program sponsored by gifts to the Annual Fund, assists Chi Omega Alumnae in times of crisis. Chi Omega member Diane’s situation came to our attention when loving Sisters began a local letter-writing campaign to raise the $10,000 fee needed for a PAWS service dog. To reach their goal, these caring friends sought an additional contribution from the Foundation for Diane:
Dear PAWS People,
Multiple sclerosis has had me for 28 years. However, I’m still able to stand if I can hang onto something. I’ve learned these doggies can help you get up if you’re down and that sounds wonderful! I live alone and the companionship sounds terrific. My children are grown… my husband died 14 years ago, so I’m left with a heart full of love and no one to give it to. A pup that can do so many things sounds like a really WOW gift. Hoping that a precious pup will have my name on it.
There was a “precious pup” with her name on it – thanks to her Chi Omega Sisters! Thankfully, the Chi Omega Helping Hands Fund was available to provide 15% of the necessary funding.
