The Nancy Walton Laurie Leadership Institute of Chi Omega is preparing women to lead in their communities, work places, homes, and in Chi Omega.
The Laurie Leadership Institute is a distinguished program designed to engage alumnae and collegiate members in leadership training that is both insightful and inspiring. Through this training, we empower our members to explore and learn steps that result in extensive personal growth. Our goal is to develop professionals who in turn will share their knowledge and skills with others on their campuses and in their communities.
Supported by a grant from the Chi Omega Foundation, the Laurie Leadership Institute offers a curriculum library designed to address a wide variety of leadership challenges. These workshops were developed by Chi Omegas for Chi Omegas to address the most relevant issues facing both collegiate and alumnae members today. An elite team of Chi Omega alumnae travels nationwide each year to present this content in an engaging, interactive environment.
Workshop topics include:
- NEW! The Resilient Leader
- NEW! Leading with Values
- Making Decisions & Managing Conflict
- An Upright Life: Exploring Life Balance
- Choosing Thoughtfully: How Ethics & Values Shape Our Lives
- More Than Likes & Retweets: Building Authentic Relationships
- The Four Cs: Chi Omega’s Brand of Leadership
The Laurie Leadership Institute impacts Chi Omegas in a variety of ways, from the Flagship weekend at the Executive Headquarters to leadership programming at Chi Omega Convention. Collegiate and alumnae chapters also have the opportunity to experience these workshops through Regional, Chapter, and even all-Panhellenic sessions throughout the year.

Flagship Session at The Executive Headquarters
Applications are closed for our Spring 2017 Flagship Sessions. Look out for a new application cycle in Fall 2017!
Each year, a select group of incredible Chi Omega collegians and alumnae from all over the country travel to the Chi Omega Executive Headquarters in Memphis for the Flagship Session. A team of talented Chi Omega facilitators lead participants through an inspirational weekend of personal growth and Sisterhood, with all costs covered by the Chi Omega Foundation.
This year’s Flagship Session topic is The Resilient Leader. In our complex world, resilience is an important attribute for Chi Omega leaders in any stage of life. Participants will focus on understanding their own strengths and learning to leverage them through an individual strengths assessment, moving forward from setbacks and adversity, and exploring the ways that failure can lead to growth.
The Flagship Session was designed to bring together Chi Omegas from all generations, backgrounds, and leadership experience. Chi Omegas of all ages are encouraged to apply!
Collegiate chapters have the opportunity to participate in a Laurie Leadership Institute workshop without even having to leave their university! If selected to participate, our team of energetic facilitators will provide a dynamic morning or afternoon workshop designed to address your chapter’s needs. These workshops offer chapter members the opportunity to grow personally and professionally in Chi Omega.
During 2016-17, the Laurie Leadership Institute will visit 10 chapters around the country. Contact Katherine Jones, firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about bringing the Laurie Leadership Institute to your chapter!
Designed to promote Panhellenic unity and grow together through our shared values, Panhellenic workshops are presented annually on campuses across the country. These workshops can be designed to address specific needs for the campus community. Past workshops have joined Chi Omega members with other Panhellenic groups, IFC groups, and Fraternity and Sorority Staff members.
During 2016-17, the Laurie Leadership Institute will host two Panhellenic workshops at Rho Zeta/East Carolina and Psi Gamma/Mercer. Contact Katherine Jones, email@example.com for more information about bringing a Panhellenic workshop to your campus!
Each year, the Laurie Leadership Institute hits the road by traveling to 2-3 cities around the country. Chi Omega collegiate and alumnae members in the surrounding area are invited to these one-day intergenerational sessions, giving members the opportunity to grow professionally while networking with Sisters from their region.
We are excited to visit San Francisco in Fall 2016 and Chicago in Spring 2017! If you are a Chi Omega living near one of those cities, look out for more information soon on how to join us.
Convention Leadership Track
The Laurie Leadership Institute is part of Chi Omega’s biennial Convention as a leadership track available to non-required Convention delegates. Leadership Track attendees are full-time participants in Chi Omega Convention, attending all meals and events in addition to leadership programming.
Convention Leadership Track curriculum is a modified version of the Flagship Session, which represents the Laurie Leadership Institute’s newest workshop content.
The Chi Omega Foundation offers a number of scholarships to cover the cost of Convention registration for Laurie Leadership Institute Track attendees. Look out for more information about this opportunity before Chi Omega Convention 2018!
